Tutoring French

I got my  Master's Degree in English/French Translation in 2008 in Paris 7 Denis Diderot University - Charles V, known in France to be the best French University  to learn English.

-

I have 17 years of experience tutoring children from 12 years old to graduates and adults. I have tutored 108 students during private lessons and have led 28 small group classes with up to 8 students in each. Companies can reach out to me to organize lessons for their employees.

-

I know everybody has their own rhythm, so  I adapt to yours. We focus on your goals and needs, and work in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Learning

It's really important, when you learn a language, not only to be able to speak it, but also read and write it. French has a very complex spelling and the way you see something written is not always the way you say it. That's why unless you don't want to, we will work both on oral and written comprehension/expression.

-

Written exercises are very helpful to help you understand and correctly manipulate the language. I know Grammar and Syntax are not favorites but they're necessary for a good understanding and a correct spoken/written French. You will need to display a little discipline, and results may take some time before appearing, but hard work always pays off! *

At the same time, we'll learn French through different types of materials, and this will be done in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for a better learning process.

Materials

We will learn French (language and culture) through different types of materials, including:

+ Conversation

+ Written and oral exercises

+ Songs and radio/TV recordings

+ Paintings, cartoons and movie extracts

+ Translation

+ Articles, recipes and book extracts

Exam Preparation

Since 2014, I have helped 14 students prepare for their AP French exam, and 1 for her SAT II. I have got to know well how Henry M. Gunn High School, Menlo-Atherton High School and Palo Alto High School teachers have their students work on their AP test, and what they are lacking from their teaching.

-

I can help you, or your child, prepare for such important exams. We will check if anything regarding grammar or conjugation needs reviewing, and most importantly we will work on the topics and practice ALL the required exercises so that you can be ready for the big day.

AP, SAT, IB
